A tablet and a touchscreen are two different things. I assume the guys grandpa means a normal laptop with touchscreen. Imo it's a great idea/option. Especially for older people it probably feels better to click on the screen where they see the button than with the mouse. :)

.chris, what do you mean, 'why not have a tabl(e)t'? maybe a touch laptop would be nice... tablets need extra hardware to swivel, use pens, etc. Maybe a combo pda/laptop would be nice.

ps. jdelidc, and his grandfather, there are things like this out there. I know you're suggesting Dell do it, but pointing out others have

@bennish i think your right a older person would want a touch screen laptop so its more hands on and easier to understand. a tablet would just confuse them even more though and very sorry old people but you tend to force things and might brake the screen off a tablet by not having it lined up right when moving it.

cheaper to just build it that way from scratch. that's why i suggested it (personally, i hate laptops because of how hard they are to upgrade once they get home)

there are touch overlays you can get for conventional monitors... would clip onto the laptop just fine. It's a fine mesh that is pressure sensitive.
